A Family's Unforgettable Escape Room Adventure Story

A Family's Unforgettable Escape Room Adventure Story

In the quiet suburb of Ft. LauderWood, Michael was known not for a lavish lifestyle or scandalous behavior, but for his unyielding passion for Bitcoin. Conversations about the weather, politics, or even the neighbor’s new puppy inevitably turned into discourses on Bitcoin. His catchphrase, “Bitcoin fixes this,” had become a neighborhood joke. Whether it was the local grocery store raising prices (“Bitcoin fixes this”), a traffic jam (“Bitcoin fixes this”), or his daughter’s slow internet connection (“Dad, please, Bitcoin does not fix Wi-Fi!”), Michael found a way to relate everything back to Bitcoin.

However, this obsession came at a cost. His family, once the core of his happiness, was drifting away. Realizing the loneliness of his situation, Michael decided it was time for a change.

Determined to reconnect, Michael planned a fun day out at an escape room, secretly choosing a Bitcoin theme. As he mailed the invitations, he smirked, imagining the Bitcoin-themed puzzles, each echoing “Bitcoin fixes this.”

The day of the event

The family gathered outside the escape room, curious and cautiously optimistic. Just as they were about to enter, Michael excused himself, setting the stage for his surprise.

The family entered the room, and the theme was immediately apparent: Bitcoin. “He’s got to be kidding,” Max groaned, while Stacey chuckled, “Classic Dad.” Each puzzle came with a note from Michael, repeating “Bitcoin fixes this.” From arranging Bitcoin’s history to solving cryptographic problems, the family’s frustration turned to fascination.

Working together, they began to enjoy the challenge. Stacey led a puzzle on international transactions, while Saifedean, initially skeptical, became intrigued by Bitcoin’s decentralization. Max jokingly mimicked, “Let me guess, Bitcoin fixes this?” as they tackled a tough puzzle, sparking laughter and easing tension.

The Grand Escape and Reunion

In a moment of collective brilliance, they solved the final puzzle, and the door swung open. Michael was waiting outside, and their reunion was filled with laughter and apologies. Michael admitted he may have gone overboard with Bitcoin, (“Hey, there is no second best!”) and his family acknowledged they hadn’t really tried to understand his passion.

During the celebratory meal, “Bitcoin fixes this” became a playful refrain. When Michael spilled wine on his shirt, the family exclaimed in unison, “Don’t worry, Dad, Bitcoin fixes this!” Their laughter was a symbol of renewed bonds and shared memories from an unforgettable day.

I hope you enjoyed this little piece of fiction. While Bitcoin can fix many things in our world it doesn’t fix everything. I know that I for one would be very broken without the love and acceptance of my family (the one I choose) and I am sure you can say the same.

Remember this as we cocreate the future of our dreams!

Could a government conrol Bitcoin?

I posted a tweet a few days ago commenting on my incidental encounter with the high fees and long wait times of Bitcoin that we are currently experiencing due to the flood of adoption driven by Ordinals and BRC20. The poll in the tweet was reposted to Facebook, where I received a comment from an old friend who is an astrologer. Her comment essentially said, "Ditch Bitcoin for Gold and Silver, as the government is going to take control of Bitcoin."
